Michiel was also a pᴀssionate supporter of Belgian football club KRC Genk. After his pᴀssing on August 10, 2026, the club paid tribute to him, and his final wish was fulfilled when his farewell ceremony was held inside the Cegeka Arena. The occasion reflected the remarkable connection he had built with his community and the people who followed his journey.

Michiel’s life may have been shaped by a rare condition, but it was ultimately remembered for something much bigger: the way he chose to live it. His story continues to inspire people far beyond Belgium, leaving behind a powerful reminder to make the most of the time we are given.
